Manorbier
Manorbier
is a friendly coastal village with two major attractions, the beach and
the castle.
The following amenities can be found a short distance from the cottage:
- The village shop is just a short walk up the hill, it is a large 'Londis', post office and off-licence.
- The Castle Inn serves good ales and pub grub with a lovely enclosed beer garden.
- The Castlemead Restaurant (shouting distance across the field!) has a lovely menu for more refined meals.
- There are various tea rooms to relax in.
- Stock up with fresh produce from the Springfield farm shop (strawberries, asparagus, Pembrokeshire honey, tomatoes, lettuce etc when in season).
- Manorbier Castle takes at least a morning to get around, it sells gifts and refreshments. The grounds inside have beautifully well kept flower borders - climb up a turret and see where you are staying!
- Try your hand at surfing, coasteering, windsurfing or wander out of the door straight onto the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to walk around the headland (discover some secret coves) or carry on to 'Swan Lake' beach one way or back past Lydstep to Tenby the other.
- The Medieval walled town of Tenby is just 5 miles away. There are a multitude of attractions. The usual shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Trips to Caldey Island, home to the Cistercian Monks and a beautiful monastery. Chartered fishing trips etc. Look for seals and porpoises on any coastal trip.
- Pembroke is 6 miles away. A lovely small town, it has the Grandest Castle in the whole area on the banks of the river Cleddau. Through the summer you can often try your hand at sword fighting and archery to help your imagination step back in time.
